Let's work together to walk across America! We are excited to announce our Move-A-Thon fundraising event. This event is designed to promote physical health while also raising funds for our school. The Move-A-Thon is a fun way for students and their families to get out and move more, as we collectively work as a community to meet the goal of walking across the USA from coast to coast.
Our students are currently studying Anatomy and learning about how the body works and what we can do to keep it healthy. Physical movement and exercise, play a big part in this. During the next few weeks of the Move-A-Thon event, students and their families will be keeping track of their movement at school and at home. Students will have the opportunity to walk/run miles at school and parents can track their collective family movement at home on a tracking sheet for students to bring in to contribute to the total count. As the students tally up the number of miles our community has moved on a weekly basis, they will track this on a map of the USA in an attempt to collectively move the 2,742 miles from West Quoddy Head, Maine to the Pacific coast in Washington State. This distance represents the furthest east-to-west distance along the parallel in the lower 48 states.
We encourage everyone to share this with friends, family, neighbors, and colleagues so they can make a tax-deductible donation to promote physical wellbeing and support the school. The money raised through these fundraising efforts will be entirely put towards one of the following initiatives:
- Construction of a beautiful 30' diameter Thatched Roof Tiki Hut in the center of our campus, including wooden community seating
- An outdoor dedicated Special Skills classroom, to support archery, woodworking, sewing, pottery, and more
- School transportation to allow students to go off-campus regularly to support an enriching learning experience
- The continuous build-out of our middle school classrooms
- An 8' climbing structure to support gross motor skill development during Free Play
We will continue to provide updates about our progress as we work together to move across the USA. Once we reach our goal we will be celebrating with the students at a celebration event! We are hopeful that everyone will participate in our Move-A-Thon and help us make it a huge success. Thank you for your continued support of our school!
